A few days ago we celebrated our 34th Wedding Anniversary, and come October will be 39 years together. How do you describe nearly 40 years together? Magical, joyful, fun, occasionally annoying… all are useful labels to encapsulate a life together.
Our Anniversary
We hosted a dinner party at our favorite restaurant Jasmin a Maslina to celebrate, and the evening was so much fun. Jasmin worked with us to create a happy hour with festive cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by unique tasting menu of delicious and beautiful dishes, perfectly paired with crisp wines. The restaurant was lovely, a playing custom playlist of featuring the 80’s and 90’s music. Our friends assembled for an evening of too much food, wines and laughter. The pictures do a good job of describing the evening.
The food, as always, was very creative, artistic and savory. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures of each course; likely due to too much wine and some Rakija. The tasting menu had a fish or meat option. This being Serbia, we assumed that meat would be the preferred choice, but to our great surprise, six out of the ten people chose seafood and fish! Does this mean Serbian tastes are changing? We doubt it!
Memories
The anniversary highlighted our amazing life together filled with adventures/travels. Eunjae and I, both coming from humble backgrounds, met in college and worked hard for 30+ years, and now we get to enjoy our retirement. We were blessed to have parents who instilled the value of hard work and savings, and were extremely fortunate to meet Mitch Katz, our financial advisor, who has ensured we save aggressively and invest wisely to have the resources needed to enjoy a long and active retirement. Being in a reflective mood, I thought it only fitting to share some of our earliest memories with all of you. Enjoy the pictures!
Final Thoughts
Autumn is finally here in Novi Sad after a long and hot summer. We had our first rain in over two months, and the temperature dropped from the mid 30c to 20c in only a day. We are looking forward to seeing Tim and Lopa in Turkey and Brenda in Novi Sad – in October. We will share lots of photos with them.
