Apologies for the delay but had to re-host the blog from GoDaddy to WordPress. You would think in this day and age it would be a turn-key operation but you would be wrong. After viewing several hours of web design and WordPress instructional videos I kind of have it figured out. This is why I went into sales instead of becoming a developer.
The last week has been incredible and we have so much to discuss. On the food front we are eating exceptionally well. In Virginia we pay for Organic food but in Serbia, we simply go to the farmer’s market and buy it directly from the farm. The one big difference is that now we purchase fruits and vegetables that are in season as imports are fewer and much more expensive. The pictures below are from the the Fish Market. You can find what you need and the smoked meats are plentiful and delicious. Eunjae says the reason we really moved is so I can pork as much as I want When I want!
The Night Bazar
The Night Bazar happens the first Saturday of each month during the summer and it is a party. Famers, craft makers, artisans, BBQ purveyors, CRAFT BREWERS, distillers and many others come to sell their wares. You have young and old all shopping from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM and it is such a relaxed and wholesome atmosphere. We purchased some really cool Anise & Crystal Soap and beautifully smoked pancetta and the most delicious pork snack called Čvarci or ocvirki. I can only describe it as the love child of pork rinds and lard. It sounds bad, is probably bad for you and is completely addictive!
Another big difference between our events in Mosaic and Serbia is the way the Government handles things like Alcohol. At the Bazar people were freely consuming beer, wine and distilled drinks and no one seemed to be misbehaving and there wasn’t the omnipresent police presence we have come to expect in the US. Not saying we are worse in the US but it was nice seeing people having a good time without the normal hoops we go through.
