The Eagles Have Landed

Hello friends,

I thought I would share some of our adventures since we moved from the US to Serbia.  Serbia has been having an unusually cold spring.  Temperatures have not cracked 19C (yes dear friends, we have converted to the dreaded metric system), which is around 67F.  Today, we submitted our official paperwork for residency.  This is an important milestone and we should have official confirmation in 2 weeks. Our daily life is interesting.  All of the food in Serbia has no GMOs and is what we call organic, in some cases very organic.  We attended a BBQ with friends and I had the honor of butchering whole chickens.  It was delicious but a bit gross.  Everyday we walk between 3 to 5 kilometers since we don’t have a car.  Uber does not exist here but there are some online taxi services.  One of the major differences in Serbia is that they use Euros and Dinars.  Typically, Dinars are used for daily purchases and Euros for the big items.

Serbia unfortunately experienced a school shooting and it really impacted the country profoundly.   As a result the Government mandated that if you have an unregistered weapon you had to immediately turn the gun into the police.  It was amazing to see people voluntarily giving up their weapons.  We were at the police station today to apply for our residency and I actually saw people complying with the directive.  Now, as you know I own firearms so it was amazing to see this and you can’t help but wonder?

We have found a great apartment near the City Center and the landlord lives on the next floor.  We have to pay the rent in Euros via Cash because online banking is not really a thing here (i.e., no Venmo, Paypal, Apple Pay).  That being said the people are very nice and we are starting to make friends.  Today, we interviewed a trainer who is very different then our normal trainer.  He is into Functional Training and wants to work with us on nutrition, supplements, and breathing.  Guy is very fit so it should be good.  Now get this, the cost of a gym membership for a man is $30 USD per month and for a Women is $25 USD per month.  Can you imagine if SolidCore charged different rates for men and women?  I would pay to see that day.  Each day we find new adventures and things to do.  We have hired a personal assistant and he is helping us find what we need.  Our greatest fear, a lack of limes for cocktails, has been overcome and I am happy to report our bar is open!

We miss you all!
